Grammy Nominated Angie Stone
This star and very well-known Grammy Nominated Angie Stone. A Black woman who’s time in this artist game goes all the way back to the early 70’s. And then eventually moved on up to become a R&B artist. According to what I’m reading.
But most importantly her family, associates and really close friends have taken a loss due to such the horrible situation. I was up and at it this morning, drinking me a cup of Jo’ taking care of some stuff on-line. And just so happened to catch a glimpse of what the title read with her picture attached to it.
Grammy Nominated Angie Stone So What Happened?
Killed in a vehicle collision? Yep, that’s what I’m reading as I type. This is also something I strive to bring awareness to ( Rollover Crashes ) and about. In this particular one, it happened right after her and her group left a performance that took place in Montgomery, Alabama. They were on they’re way back to Atlanta sometime after 4 a.m. The 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van they were in I guess flipped over and then was hit by a 2021 Freight-liner Cascadia truck.
“Hit by a big rig” is is what her music producer and longtime manager was said to have told The Associated Press. Her daughter Ladi diamond also confirmed the sad and very horrible news also by expressing it through a Facebook post.

Thoughts From The Artist 4 the People
It’s very unfortunate and heartbreaking, and all I can do really is send my prayers for relief, and condolences. And may the most high almighty G-d help Angie Stone’s daughter, son and her family find some type of relief. The Battle of the Mind that her son and daughter may be facing right now.
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”
Psalms 147:3
Just blogging my thoughts, condolences and awareness on this. I can recall buying, and listening to her music, and that’s another reason why I’m choosing to do a quick post about this situation. I’m even learning quite a few new things as well that I didn’t know about her. So allow me, to start with the examples below.
A Little Bit About The Work Angie Stone Put In
Imagine 3 High school friends who came together and credited as ONE OF THE FIRST female hip-hop groups. The Sequence, which should mean a lot. Why? Because that means that Miss Angie Stone has been doing this.
Called: “The Sequence,” they came with their track in 1979 titled: “Funk You Up.” Remaining a classic since the 70’s, and dually recognized and given mad props by Rolling Stone. The Grammy Nominated Angie Stone then down the road decided to made a switch from doing hip-hop to R&B. With a first performance with a group called: “Vertical Hold” before eventually moving ahead and furthering her career on the solo tip.
Releasing that first debut solo record joint in 1999 titled: “Black Diamond” with a featured hit called “No More Rain (In This Cloud).” Then in 2001 coming back with another one called: “Mahogany Soul” with a hit song called: “Brotha” the video above. Where she let’s you know how she feels about men of my tone. This album is that one reason why I actually am up on her and her music. Clearly she has shown to have put in work as a songwriter and collaborator.
And not only that, but also known to have a substantial film and TV career as well. She has a total of 10 solo albums released, Grammy Nominated Angie Stone 3 times in 2003. Including for best female R&B vocal performance in 2004. Added to the women Songwriters Hall of Fame.
A Bigger Reason to My Why
So, I think it should be a bit more clear to my why. Why I am choosing to do this post on this Grammy Nominated artist. First off, she’s one who has shown to be a artist 4 the people WAAAAAAY……. before I even came into the being, and existence. And second, it wasn’t to just blog about such saddening news. I’m very big on giving credit to, when and where it’s truly due to those who deserve it coming from me.
As a recording artist of rap myself, I find it to be necessary to take this time out to extend appreciation, homage and gratitude to this woman of my tone. This Black Woman who I now know even more about when it comes to her work she’s putting for at least 5 decades. Along with others who share a part of her life and legacy. Etched and or engraved in the stone of the life, time and history of the Black American working like the Arts, Rap, R&B and Hip-Hop culture timeline.
And this happens 28 days after Black History Month. Anyway, I also want to make note not only of what has happened to Angie Stone, and her great works and contributions to Rap, Hip-Hop R&B music culture, film and TV performance. The other side is her showing the importance of setting the record straight, and for people like me, to know the real. And what am I referring to
EndNote
Her real life experiences, Can U Imagine showing to go all the way to the end standing on real Black Woman Business for South Carolina?
There’s so much more that, I want to say, but I’ll leave y’all with this. This woman right here was a great one, and her death is one that’s going to shake some shhhh…. up like a seizure. I just feel like such a amazing Spirited woman of my tone like her didn’t deserve to go out like this. R.I.P
